.HALLMAN, Mattie Jane Conner, 90, of Montgomery, AL passed away peacefully after an extended illness. She is preceded in death, by her husband, Daniel Hallman, her daughter, Sarah Hallman Thomas, son-in-law, Paul Dean Thomas, her parents, Will and Ardella Conner of Elmore County and nine siblings. She is survived by two granddaughters, Mila Thomas, Montgomery, and Rebecca Thomas, Pike Road, AL and a beloved Scottish Terrier, Maxwell or “Michael, Mackerel, and Malcolm” as he was often called by her. A one-hour visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by a grave-side service at 1:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. Mattie was born in Tallapoosa County, AL and moved multiple times around Coosa and Elmore Counties before finally settling in Montgomery many years ago. “Granny” is remembered by her grandchildren for strong perseverance through many adverse circumstances over the years. She was a wonderful grandmother who acknowledged Christ in all things. One overriding theme could be used as her motto from Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Her loyalty to her church, Pentecostal Life Church, was unquestionable. The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice in Montgomery for their ever-present care and support, as well as the wonderful care-giver staff from ResCare Home Care. The support from family and friends made the last 2 years much easier. Online condolences may be made at www.leak-mc.com
