“My name is Melanie Rene Dobbs, but I prefer to be called “Mel” or “Melly”. I am was born at Lakeland General Hospital in Lakeland, FL. I am very close to my mother, my step-father and grandmother. I go to my mother’s home for visits several times a month and I really look forward to those visits. When I’m home, I like going to Wal-Mart with my Mom. I graduated from Helen Keller School of Alabama in 1996 and I started attended the Mclnnis Center in 1997. On June 20, 1998, I then moved into a MARC group home. In 2016, I moved from the group home into an apartment with a roommate and I love having my own room. I enjoy watching videos, dancing, and listening to music. I love going to Camp ASCCA in the summer. Shopping is also favorite pastime. My very favorite thing is a new purse. “
