Merrelle P. Haire

Merrelle P. Haire, age 95, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her two sons, Randall (Carol) Haire and Ron Haire, two grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) Haire and Sean (Jasmine) Haire, and one great grandchild, Aiden Haire. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Frazer Church, Montgomery, AL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Merrelle Haire was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Haire, father Randle Pritchett, mother Kizzie Pritchett, sister, Matred Posey, and brother Bernard Pritchett.

Merrelle Haire was a member of Frazer Church for 33 years. She was born in Barbour County, Alabama. Merrelle attended Florida State University, where she met her future husband, Wallace. She received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and then moved to Tampa, Florida, where she married Wallace, her husband of 59 years.

After graduation from college, Merrelle Haire was a teacher at a strawberry school in Florida. After her children reached grade school, she worked as a substitute teacher for many years. She also worked at Hudson-Thompson Credit Union in Montgomery for about ten years. She loved traveling, ballroom dancing and playing bridge.

Flowers can be delivered after 8:00 am on Monday, September 26, to Frazer Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36117.
