

Michael was born on November 12, 1976, in Montgomery, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery before completing a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Michael dedicated his professional career to healthcare administration, where he was respected for his knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to the organizations and communities he served. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his thoughtful leadership, strong work ethic, and dedication to excellence.
Outside of his professional life, Michael enjoyed attending concerts, spending time at the beach, playing golf, and following Auburn University football. He appreciated opportunities to travel, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the company of friends.
Michael was known for his loyalty, generosity, and sense of humor. He enjoyed making others laugh and valued longstanding friendships. He had a lifelong love for animals, particularly shelter dogs, and believed strongly in giving animals a second chance. His beloved dog, Mini Pearl Ritzus, was a constant companion and held a special place in his life.
Michael is survived by his wife, Treasure Green Ritzus; his parents, Larry Ritzus and Betty Ritzus; his sister, Deborah Ritzus; and his brother, Darrin Ritzus. Michael also shared special friendships with Brad Godwin, whom he considered a brother, and Suzanne Mracek Vernon, who was a trusted mentor and steadfast friend.
Funeral services will be held at Leak Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery Humane Society in Michael's memory, honoring his enduring love for animals and his support of shelter dogs.
Michael will be remembered for his intelligence, loyalty, and generosity. His memory will be cherished by those who knew him.
A Family and Friends Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, on July 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am followed by a Graveside Service at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama beginning at 11:00 am.
