

Mildred Miller Ivey, 85, a resident of Montgomery, died peacefully at her home on July 19, 2012 after a long and hard fought battle with multiple health issues. She was born on August 1, 1926 in Coker, AL to William and Bessie Miller. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 22nd from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, July 23rd with burial in Williamson Cemetery in Northport, AL at 3:00pm. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Ivey was an active member of First Baptist Church Montgomery, volunteering her time to serve in various capacities through the Music, Sunday School and Senior Adult ministries. She retired after 30 years with Federal Civil Service, enjoyed traveling, and cherished spending time with family and friends. She was most affectionately known as “Mimi”. Mrs. Ivey was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Cecil, Hoyt, Buford, and L.A. Miller, and sisters Lois Welch, Ruth Hudson, and Jean Watson. She is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Ivey, her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Cheryl Bailey of Birmingham and Bobby and Tammy Ivey of Cornelia, Georgia, grandchildren Micah Bailey, Amanda Bailey Leach (Matt), Megan Ivey Arnold (Spencer), and Hannah Ivey, one great-grandchild Miller “Mills” Leach, sister Faye Strickland of Northport, brother Bobby Miller (Sue) of Tuscaloosa, and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, family, and friends. The Hope Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Montgomery Building Fund.
