Modean Sue Downey

Modean Lett Daugherty Downey, 87, a resident of Montgomery, died Wednesday February 9, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 15, 2022 at Leak Memory Chapel at 1pm with Reverend Jordan Hoge presiding. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama, with Leak Memory Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Downey is preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Downey, Sr., her father and mother, Alton and Agnes Lett, and two brothers, Edward and Charles Lett. She is survived in death by one sister, Jeanette Forehand Bush, two daughters, Debbie Daugherty Harrison and Becky Daugherty Blackmon (Cecil), and two sons, Joseph E. Downey, Jr. (Susan) and Michael Downey. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Craig Harrison, Brittaney Blackmon Andres (Jason), Kevin Harrison, Christopher Blackmon (Ana Maria), Matthew Blackmon (Kayla), Taylor Downey (Zoie), Evan Hoge (Jordan), Rebecca Downey, Austin Downey, Kendall Downey, Coleman Downey, and Alexis Downey; and eight great-granchildren: McKinley Andres, Davis and Dylan Andres, Hudson Pepe Blackmon, Mason Blackmon, Aiden Blackmon, Heidi June Blackmon, and Elliot Hoge.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her, she was our angel. Visitation will be Tuesday February 15, 2022, from 11:30 am until 1 pm at Leak Memory Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in her name, to the Montgomery Humane Society.
