Nancy Lynn Boland

Nancy Lynn Boland, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2023, surrounded by her children after a brief battle with cancer. At a young age, she dedicated her life to Christ and reflected His light in the way she cared for others, full of compassion and grace.

Nancy was born on January 15, 1951, in Montgomery, Alabama to the late William F. and Carrie P. Boland. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969. After starting her family and moving to Dothan, she went to college and graduated cum laude in 1996 from Troy University. She retired from the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services in 2017 and was thrilled to have more time to spend with her cherished grandchildren. Gine, as she was known to her grandchildren, attended every recital, school program, and sporting event, while also caring for her beloved mother in Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Boland, Sr. and Carrie Persons Boland, and dear friend, Sherry Rhodes.

Nancy was a nurturing caregiver, a loyal confidant, and a humble servant. She was quick to laugh and generous with her smiles. She leaves to treasure her memory her children, Adam (Angeila) Scarborough, Amy Bright; grandchildren, Ella and Ava Scarborough, Carter and Owen Bright; sister, Pamela Oswald; brother, William F. Boland, Jr.; and many other special family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff of Martin 1 wing at Wesley Place and the nurses of the Southeast Health CCU for the compassionate care of their mother during her illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes.

A visitation for Nancy will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
