Nellie Cajigas Ponce

Nellie Cajigas Ponce, 84, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2021. Nellie was born on April 1, 1937 to Rodulfo and Eulalia Cajigas in Aguada, Puerto Rico. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband of 58 years, Luis R. Ponce-Pellot. Nellie leaves behind to honor and cherish her memory two sons, Luis R. Ponce Jr. (Ann) and Carlos A. Ponce, a daughter Carmen P. Mills (Mike), and grandchildren Jeremy C. “Chad” Ponce (Amber), Jennifer P. Wilson (John), Haley P. Hollon (Tyler), W. Carter Mills, Erin M. Boyle (Danny) and Jason M. Mills (Amanda.) Nellie had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were blessed to have known and loved her. She missed her parents and two brothers and is survived by three beloved sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and numerous long-time friends. We will treasure the memory of the many family gatherings with Nellie’s wonderful Puerto Rican cooking and we will miss her very much. A graveside service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 241374, Montgomery, AL 36124-1374.
