
Moore, Ouida Lorene Sellers, was born in Fitzpatrick, Alabama to the union of Kathleen DeLacy Haddock and Jefferson Stuckey Sellers. Mrs. Moore died at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama on March 30, 2012.The memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. at the Stakely Sanctuary at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL. Mrs. Moore spent her formative years in Fitzpatrick and Omega, Alabama. She was the middle child of seven daughters. She received her education at Inverness High School in Bullock County. She graduated from St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in Montgomery, Alabama. After several decades of devoting personal care to her patients, she retired from the VA Hospital in Montgomery. In 1958, Lorene married the love of her life, Gurnia Murphy Moore. Lorene and Gurnia enjoyed many years of happiness. Lorene enjoyed being a member of the Dyess-Ferguson Class, First Baptist Church, Montgomery. She was an avid student of not only the Bible, but also music and genealogy. Lorene was a proud member of the Montgomery Music Study Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her parents, her six sisters, Margaret Valeria Sellers, Dorothy Jeanette Sellers Hovator, Martha Mae Sellers Godfrey, Minnie Florence Sellers Sauls, Hazel Marie Sellers Hanvey, and Sara Katherine Sellers Osteen. Mrs. Moore is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Gurnia Murphy Moore, her brothers-in-law James Vernon Godfrey of Montgomery and John Fletcher Osteen (Margaret) of Lynchburg, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Claude Stuckey Godfrey (Ann) , John Michael Osteen ( Gail B. McIntosh), Deborah Carol Godfrey, Nancy Marie Osteen Oberley (Russell), Angela Sellers Hanvey Hales (Myrt, Jr.), and Dr. Jan Kathleen Hanvey Fairchild (Billy); brothers and sisters-in-law, Helene Moore Oliver of Tuscaloosa, Gary D. Moore (Joyce) of Montgomery, and Mary Moore DeShazio (Rios) of Foley, Alabama. Honorary Pall Bearers are the Pound-Stone Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.
