

Paul Benjamin Fussell, Sr., 99, a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and hunting buddy, passed away on June 19, 2026. Born on August 19, 1926, in Georgiana, Alabama, his life was a testament to his love of family, his devout faith in Christ, and his relentless work ethic.
Paul was a self-made man with a unique and infectious personality. He proudly served in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He moved to Montgomery and flourished as a restaurateur and later as a wholesaling specialist.
Paul had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, dog training, and baseball. His enthusiasm for bird hunting occupied his free time in the fall and winter, and his love for the Atlanta Braves held his focus every spring and summer.
Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Josephine Nero Fussell, and his middle son, Ronald Alan Fussell of Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Fussell Wright and Paul Benjamin Fussell, Jr. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jason Paul Head and Jennifer Fussell Davis, who affectionately called him “Gramps.” His memory will live on through his family, whose lives have been enriched by his unwavering love and support.
A graveside visitation at Greenwood-Serenity Cemetery in Montgomery, AL, will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with a burial service immediately following at 11:00 AM. All guests are invited to join the family for lunch at St. Bede Church after the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Shriners Children's Hospitals for Children.
