Peggy Jane (Welch) Griffin, age 84, passed away to be with our Lord on November 15th, 2025. She was born on April 1st, 1941, in Cross City, FL. After moving around Florida and South Carolina with her parents and siblings, she eventually moved to Montgomery, AL, and raised her own family there. Peggy was a devoted wife and raised two sons. She was a homemaker and had many interests and activities she enjoyed such as landscaping, gardening, and volunteer work.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William (Bill) Lee Griffin Sr., and son Kenneth Welch Griffin, both of Montgomery, as well as her sister Ann Elizabeth Welch of Ft. Myers, FL. She will be greatly missed by her son, William (Lee) Griffin, her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as by her siblings William Welch Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Jim and Bob Welch of Ft. Myers, Linda Welch and Sybil Welch Lazarus of Ft. Myers, and Brenda Howell of Kennesaw, GA.
Mom always had cheer in her heart and blessed everyone with her humor and pithy comments. People loved having her around and she touched the lives of many, even in her later years. She was also a woman of great fortitude and strength and although having lost a husband and son, she leaned into her faith and was never embittered or despondent about her circumstances. Even as her health faded and she eventually had to leave the home she loved, she consciously chose to remain positive no matter what life threw at her. Her sunny disposition was truly inspirational and a lesson for us all.
A memorial service will be held for the family on November 23rd, 2025, at 11:00am at White Chapel-Greenwood Cemetery and Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
