Peggy June Salter

22, 2026, after a love-filled life of 92 years and a nine-year battle with cancer. It was

with joy that she joined her cherished husband of 61 years, Glenn Salter Sr.; parents

George and Inez Graves; siblings Nell Avinger, Jenny McEwen, and Douglas Graves;

niece, Kathy Beck; and most especially, her Savior Jesus, in Heaven.

Peggy always had a flair for organization and knew as soon as she graduated from

Sidney Lanier High School in 1952 that she would move straight into the working world.

She found her career early with an independent insurance company and managed the

office for over 40 years before retiring. This did not stop her from focusing on her family,

however, as she and her beloved Glenn married in 1958 and had two children in swift

succession. Throughout their lives, she turned her efficiency on their vacations,

holidays, and legendary neighborhood gatherings, while never sacrificing her warmth

and smiles. All the while her Christian faith stayed at the forefront as her husband and

she became backbone members of Forest Avenue/Aldersgate UMC and the thriving

Pathfinders Sunday School class. Even in the last year of her life, she made the

decision to become a member of Wesley Church - Montgomery and treasured having

communion brought to her.

She will forever be remembered by her family still living: her youngest sister, Jerry Cox;

her dearest children, Sharon (Harper) Pruett and French (Jennifer) Salter; her adored

grandchildren Trent (Jessica) Salter and step-grandchildren, Marie (David) Robinson

and William (Courtney) Pruett; her precious step-great-grandchildren, Charlie Davis,

Caroline Davis, Henry Robinson, Iris Robinson, Hunter Pruett; and numerous nieces

and nephews.

On behalf of Peggy, the family would like to sincerely thank her wonderful oncologist

Robert A. Avery, MD, and the entire staff at the Montgomery Cancer Center. They

brought comfort and peace throughout her years on this unanticipated journey.

The family will welcome friends at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery,

AL, for visitation on September 28 at 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m.

with Rev. Dr. Brad Bradford officiating.
