After many years of service to the state and local government, she retired as a Family Court Clerk Supervisor in Montgomery. She was well-respected by her coworkers, as well as the judges and attorneys she worked with. The job she loved most (and excelled at) was that of Mother. She was a deeply devoted mother to her six children, and warmly welcomed all sons-and daughters-in-law to the family. She adored her grandchildren and often spoiled them with treats.
Penelope is survived by her spouse, Luel Harris; her son Jeffery Harris (Glenda); her daughter Barbara Osman (Richard); her daughter Shelly Reeves; her son James Harris; her daughter Teresa Harris; and her son Joseph Harris (Tina); her sibling Shelly Langley, her sibling Sarah Tomasovich and her sibling Kimmel Evans. She also leaves to cherish her memories 16 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Penelope was preceded in death by her father Jesse Evans and her mother Camille Parker; her brother Billy Evans.
A visitation for Penelope will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3870 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36109. Burial will follow at Oakwood - St. Margaret's Cemetery.
