

Raymond and family relocated to Montgomery in 1988 where he spent his childhood. Raymond graduated from Calvary Christian Academy and during his high school years was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball. He was awarded the baseball medal for his outstanding play during his senior year at Calvary. He was also a member of the state champion AISA basketball team. For many years, he enjoyed playing on the church softball team with his Dad. They also enjoyed hunting and fishing. While at church youth camp, Raymond made his profession of faith and was baptized at Vaugh Forest Church. After high school, he spent two years at Troy State University. Raymond returned to Montgomery in 2005 and started his career as an Electrician. He enjoyed his profession and was very adept at solving problems while working. Raymond was always kindhearted and willing to be of help.
In 2010, Raymond married Ada (Nikki) Hicks and was raising three children, Joslyn Hicks, Zachery Byers and Gabriel Byers. His greatest joy was spending time with his children.
Raymond is survived by his Dad, Raymond Byers (loving step- mother Georgiann) and his Mother, Rose Byers. Also survived by his two sisters, Angelina Musselman (Dave), Tamara Trammell (Michael) and step sister Laura Goodwin (Jeff). Three nephews and one niece Liam Mussselman, Emma Hapbell, Stevens Godsy, George Robert Godsy (Samantha). Preceded in death, his brother Ronald Lucid.
Sadly, after a brief illness, Raymond passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024. In Raymond’s last days, he had the assurance of heaven and he dearly loved his family. His last words were to his father, “ I Love You, Dad.”
A family and friends visitation for Raymond will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 11 until 12 noon at White Chapel- Greenwood. A Celebration of Life service will occur Monday, March 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM. A private family only graveside committal service will be immediately following the repast in Greenwood Cemetery.
