Raymond H. Westgate

Raymond Howard Westgate of 304 Northwestern Dr., Montgomery passed away at a local hospital Friday, January 4, 2013. He was born in Dearborn Michigan on April 24, 1927. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1970. He later worked in civil service at Maxwell AFB retiring in 1992. Ray was a marathon runner, and long time member of the Montgomery Track and Running Club. He was proud of his runs in the Boston Marathon. He enjoyed life. He loved his wife, family, friends, and pets.

Ray was preceded in death by his father Howard James Westgate of Island Brook, Quebec and his mother Lilly Guy Westgate Taylor of Cookshire, Quebec.

He is survived by his life long sweetheart and wife of sixty-three years Margaret Eleanor Westgate, his sister Donna Shia (Frisco, Texas), his son Donald Howard Westgate, daughter Shirley Rae Boyd (John), his daughter-in-law Sandra Swift, his grandchildren, Sam Moran, Bridgett Strayer, Lance Murray Westgate, Adam Westgate Boyd, and great grandchildren Paige Strayer, Tyler Strayer, Jaxon Westgate, Chayton Westgate, and Chase Westgate.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 11th at Perry Hill Road Baptist Church, with graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery.
