January 22, 1950 — February 15, 2026
Rebecca Wilson lived fully — a remarkable 76 years marked by humor, faith, curiosity, and love. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, surrounded by family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, counselor, and friend, her warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine spirit naturally drew people to her.
Born in Montgomery on January 22, 1950, to Matthew Michael Barrett Jr. and Dorothy Lois Jones, Rebecca grew up with her siblings Michael, Bill, and Steve. Early losses, including the passing of her mother and brother Bill, shaped her resilience and deep compassion for others. Her love of learning led her to study at Florida State University, Samford University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn University at Montgomery, and Troy University, where she earned a master’s degree in nursing and counseling.
Through longstanding family friendships, Rebecca met the love of her life, Rick Wilson. Her father, Michael Barrett, and Amos Wilson were childhood friends whose close bond grew into a lasting connection between their families. Amos and Lorraine Wilson raised three sons — Ron, Rick, and Mike — and over time the Barrett and Wilson families became deeply intertwined. Rebecca and Rick were married at First Baptist Church in Montgomery, 54 years ago, beginning a life grounded in faith, family, and service.
Rebecca dedicated her professional life to counseling, helping others find hope and healing. After years in practice, she founded her own private counseling practice and continued working until her final days. She also worked alongside Rick and Alex at Wilson & Wilson Inc., exploring the world of office supplies, where Sharpies and Tombows became new tools in her kit. A devoted Christian, her faith guided every aspect of her life. Quick-witted, creative, and deeply empathetic, she loved books, ideas, thoughtful conversations, and helping others grow. She had a gift for solving problems, creating memories, and making everyday moments meaningful. And somehow, she made herself always available at any hour.
At home, Rebecca was known for her legendary organization — affectionately nicknamed the “queen of Ziploc bags” — her mini tool kits, and her ability to make work feel like fun. She lived by the belief that all things work together for good and carried strong values and patriotism throughout her life.
Rebecca is survived by her beloved husband, Rick; her son, Alex Wilson; her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Jenn Wilson; and her cherished grandchildren, Maggie and Tucker, who were among the greatest joys of her life. She faithfully encouraged them through daily messages of faith, love, and purpose. Generous without hesitation, she touched countless lives and helped others find hope when they needed it most.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Montgomery in Stakely Sanctuary on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
