

Richard M. Bridgman (Dick) passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on April 2, 2013 . He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He is survived by his wife Betty Gantt Bridgman, his sons Bill (Sally)Bridgman, Atmore, Alabama and Jack Bridgman, daughter Carol Ellen Casey (Jay) Jones Huntsville, Alabama, brothers Harry (Ann) Bridgman, Eclectic, Alabama and Robert (Sandy) Bridgman, Bristol, Tennessee and stepchildren Curt (Sharon) Gantt, Joy (Ray) Majors, Gay Gugliotta. Dick was born in Tallassee, Alabama and resided in Kent, Alabama and Millbrook, Alabama. He has resided in Montgomery for the past 11 years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Obadiah and Mondene Mitchell Bridgman, brothers Joe Bridgman and Tom Bridgman, grandson Miles Bridgman, wives Sarah Cobb Bridgman and Mary Willingham Bridgman. Dick graduated from Auburn University in 1951 with a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education. Dick served in the military from 1944 – 1946. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and retired from Frank Lee Youth Center as a counselor. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery. Dick enjoyed raising horses and spending time at his farm in Elmore County. He is remembered fondly by friends and family for being an unbeatable checkers player. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Poundstone Sunday School Class. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Jackson Hospital and Doctor Larry Epperson, both friend and doctor. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at Leak Memorial Chapel at 2:00 with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. A private interment will follow. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Montgomery/ Caring Center.
