Richard was born on April 21, 1966, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama and attended Jefferson Davis High School. After high school, he worked for UPS for 30 years and retired at age 50. He dreamed of living in a house in the woods with a front porch. He found that in Wetumpka along with caring neighbors.
If you were one of the lucky ones acquainted with Richard, you already know he was one of kind. He loved vinyl records, pinball machines, hunting and fishing, his Buick Regal T Type, assorted collectibles, Alabama football, Chicago Blackhawks, and sweet tea. Richard was giving, honest, a funny person with a nick name for everyone, had many lifelong friends and made new friends easily. Richard adored his wife, Regina, who he met in the 90’s and although they took different paths for a while, true love prevailed, and they were reunited 28 years later.
In addition to his wife Regina, Richard is survived by his parents, Richard Tracy (Sr.) and Glenda Wingard, his sister Jenny Wingard, his stepchildren Walt Kelly, and Marie Kelly.
Visitation with the Wingard family will be at Leak Memory Chapel on Wednesday, February 21 from5:00 to 7:00 pm. The following day, February 22, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Ramer Cemetery in Ramer, Alabama. Guest parking will be available across the street at Sampey Memorial Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Aplin, Tim Berryhill, Cory Lawrence, and Jeff McLeod.
