Richard D. Wymer, age 80, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away suddenly at his home April 25, 2018. He was born in Bloomfield, Ohio, & raised in New Concord, Ohio, where he graduated from New Concord High School in 1955. He married his one true love, Gloria (Maxwell) Wymer – they met while working at Albert’s Grocery Store. He served in the Army Reserves & started his career at Mosaic Tile and then on to Ohio Ferro Alloys. He loved watching basketball & also the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid golfer & got a Hole in 1 at the Bob - O – Link golf course in Avon, Ohio, on August 16, 1982.
They moved to Montgomery, Alabama, by way of Boliver, Ohio, in the mid 1980’s with Ohio Ferro Alloys which later became Simcala, where he became the Purchasing Director; worked for the next 30 years & then happily retired. He was preceded in death by his mother & father, Louella & G.D. “Shorty” Wymer; brother, Dr. William Wymer; & beloved wife, Gloria. Surviving are his sister, Mary Lou Ferguson of New Concord, OH; sister-in-law, Barbara (Munson) Wymer of Canton, MA; & many nieces & nephews including niece & caretaker, Michelle Brock, of Montgomery, AL.Visitation will be Monday , April 30, 2018, from 5-7 pm at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by his Funeral Service Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2 pm, also at Leak-Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, AL. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Zanesville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
