Rita Bigger Garrett

Rita Bigger Garrett passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her four daughters, Shannon C. Smith, Amy C. Carr (Bernard), Ashley C. Pruitt (Glen) and Allison C. Waid (Andy). Her beloved grandchildren Alex Fike, Austin Fike (Gwin), Holly C. Hayes (Wylie), Sheridan C. Smith (Parker), Will Camp, Clint Thames (Jackie), Walker Carr, Elizabeth N. Fralish (Sullivan), Lacy Smith and Miller Waid. She was blessed with two great granddaughters, Sarah Fike and Hattie Hayes. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Beverly Ellis (Bill), Barbara Garrett (Jim), Carol Holcombe and Emily Gregory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Bigger and Mary Emily Bigger, her loving husband, Doyle F. Garrett, her precious son W. Brent Camp, II and her son-in-law John D. Smith.

Rita was known for her dedication to her family and did everything she could to provide a wonderful life for her children. She was married for 34 years to her best friend and love of her life “Pineapple”. She was incredibly proud of her children and beautiful grandchildren and loved sharing stories of their achievements and lives. Her love of family was evident in every aspect of her life.

Her family would like to thank her tireless and devoted caregivers Stephanie Shields, Ladis Moran, Vanessa Seabon and the nurses and staff of Baptist Hospice. You will forever have our love and gratitude for the kindness and care you showed.

A celebration of life will be held at Frazer Church on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00. The family will receive visitors at 10:30.
