Born September 8, 1958, Robert was the son of George Champion and Edna Albright Champion. He spent his career with the Alabama Gas Company, retiring after many years of service.
Robert was devoted to his family, especially his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, who were the joy of his life. He loved trips to the beach and loved them most when his family was along. A faithful Atlanta Braves and Alabama football fan, he was loyal to both teams win or lose. Early fall was no doubt his favorite time of year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Champion; his sisters, Donna Champion and Lisa Legear.
He is survived by his brother, George Champion Jr.; his sister, Janet Seay; and a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery on Saturday, September 5th, 2026. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, followed by a short service at 12pm.
