Born to William C. Wingard and Katie Malie Cobb Wingard, Robert lived a life defined by faith, family, music, and service. He dedicated his professional career to the Social Security Administration, where he served as an Accountant II.
Robert was a faithful member of Eastdale Baptist Church, where his Christian faith was reflected in the way he lived each day. He possessed a remarkable gift for music and found great joy in writing songs, playing the piano, and performing on the saxophone. His love of music was an expression of both his creativity and his faith, and he delighted in sharing those talents with family, friends, and his church community.
Outside of work and music, Robert was an avid sports fan. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Atlanta Braves or support his beloved Auburn Tigers. Whether watching a game with family or discussing the latest season, his enthusiasm was contagious.
Above all, Robert treasured his family. He shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Veronica Wingard, whose love and partnership were among life's greatest blessings. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather, finding his greatest happiness in the time spent with those he loved.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Veronica Wingard; his daughters, Cecilia Wingard (Lee) and Leigh Anne Dagalea; his cherished grandchildren, Lena Wheat and Henry Belding; his brothers, John W. Wingard (the late Sherry Wingard) and Paul A. Wingard (Donna); his aunt, Dolores M. McLaughlin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Wingard and Katie Malie Cobb Wingard; and his brothers, Joseph C. Wingard and Dave B. Wingard.
Robert will be remembered for his steadfast faith, gentle spirit, musical talent, unwavering love for his family, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. His songs, his laughter, and the example of a life well lived will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and in knowing that his legacy of faith, love, and music will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
