He was born on September 9, 1941, in Lake Village, Indiana to Ervin Carl Niedert and Lurene Elizabeth (Borem) Niedert. He met and married the love of his life of 58 years in Texas, while he was in the Air Force.
Ron joined the Air Force in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1965, he then returned to Indiana and continued working for the telephone company where he retired from. After retiring from the telephone company, he opened his own welding and mechanic business. In 1999 he and Betty moved to Montgomery, Al to build their dream home on land they purchased almost 20 years before. While living in Montgomery he found Pine Level United Methodist church and became devoted members and formed close relationships with many.
Ron was truly a jack of all trades, and unlike the saying he was a master of them all. There were not many things God did not gift him with the ability to do. From mechanic, to building furniture, to leather work, building guitars, making handmade knives and bows and arrows. He also was a very talented musician, playing many instruments. Ron played music in numerous bands throughout the years including playing for churches in Indiana and Alabama. Not only did he leave a legacy with his family but with items he used his own hands to create that will last for generations to come.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Betty Niedert, Son Robin D. Niedert, brother Steve Niedert, Mother Lurene Niedert, and his father Ervin Niedert. He is survived by his daughter Michelle L. Risenhoover and his 7 grandchildren Michael (Ashlee Hall) Kender, Justin (Becca) Kender, Suzanne (Matt) Ells, Brittani (Nick) Franklin, Jacob (Stephanie) Kender, Zachary Risenhoover, and Cody Risenhoover; plus 9 great grandchildren, a brother in-law, 3 sister in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
