

Roy Franklin Stephens, 95, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Stephens and by his parents, Frank and Mollie Stephens. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (John) Black and Sandy (Todd) Rogers, a grandson, John Black, Jr., and granddaughters, Bethany (John) Neubauer, Amber Abbott and Brittney (Michael) Petty, and six great grandchildren.
Roy was born in Ramer, Alabama on September 27, 1929. He proudly served in the US Army in the Mortar Division in the Korean War. After his discharge, Roy played in a local dance band. He was the guitarist and his father played the fiddle. It was on one of these occasions when Roy met Wanda, his wife of 62 years.
Roy and Wanda moved to Montgomery where Roy worked at Standard Roofing and as a firefighter. After working for various roofing companies, he decided to open his own company, Colonial Roofing, which he operated for more than 20 years, retiring in 1995.
Roy and Wanda were active members of Frazer Church, working in the kitchen and assisting with the Salvation Army Kettle ministry. Roy also played in a band with other Frazer members, entertaining at various assisted living and nursing homes.
Roy and Wanda loved to travel and they never missed an Auburn game, whether at Jordan Hare or an away game. They were season ticket holders for over 30 years.
In 1995, they moved to their lake home at Parker’s Creek on Lake Martin where they enjoyed the rest of their days together.
Roy was a gentle spirit and loved by all.
A Family and Friends visitation will be held Sunday September 21 from 1- 2 pm with a chapel service immediately following at White Chapel.
