Russell Martin Lindsey Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Russell Martin Lindsey, Sr., loving father, Papou and friend, who departed this world after a brief illness. Born on October17, 1939, in Mobile, Alabama, Russell's life was one of dedication, adventure, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Russell was the second son of Terrell and Alberta Lindsey, who predeceased him along with his brothers, Richard and Ronnie Lindsey, and his devoted wife, Gayle Lindsey. Russell and Gayle were married in June of 1977, embarking on a journey filled with shared adventures and cherished memories. Together, they raised their blended family complete with weekends at the river and at the

lake. Married for 27 years, they were partners in every sense of the word, until Gayle's passing from colon cancer.

Russell is survived by his children, Russell Martin Lindsey, Jr., Jeff (Heather) Lindsey, Lee (Missy) Mills, and Kimberly (Lamar) Ivey. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nicole (Will) Booker, Russell Martin Lindsey, III, Dennis Lindsey, Drew (Arielle) Lindsey, Dillon Lindsey, Kalista Lindsey, Michael Mills, Mitchell Mills, Matthew Mills, Madelyn Mills, Mary Margaret (Ray) Kinney, Jasmine (Ryan) Curtis, and Wynston (Ty) Newton, along with numerous great-grandchildren who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

A dedicated public servant, Russell proudly served the City of Montgomery as a police officer for 22 years, beginning in 1965. His career was marked with distinction, including a monumental drug

bust that remained the largest in the city's history even after he retired. Upon retiring in 1987, Russell became Chief of Security at Henig Furs until 2002, when he retired to care for his beloved Gayle.

Russell was a man of many passions. He was an active member and President of the Capitol City FOP Lodge in the early 1980s and was responsible for organizing the circus as a fundraiser for local

children with special needs. Russell was known for his quick wit, charm, and sharp one-liners. Russell loved being on the water, fishing, and taking people on boat rides. In retirement, the lake became his sanctuary.

A service to honor Russell's life will be held on August 9, 2026. Visitation will be at 10:00am at Leak Memory Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 11:00am.

dedication have been a source of comfort and strength, and we appreciate you both so, so much. Our sincere gratitude goes to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Jackson Hospital for their compassionate care and support.

Russell's legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
