MOSELEY, Sara McDaniel left her earthly home on December 25, 2015, to be with her heavenly Father. She was born March 1, 1917, in Albany, GA to Clem and Julia McDaniel. At the age of 5 months, her mother enrolled her in the Cradle Roll Department at the First Methodist Church in Albany, GA, thus beginning her lifelong involvement with the Methodist church. When she was in the sixth grade, her family moved to Americus, GA where she spent the rest of her school years, including one year at Georgia Southwestern College. In July 1935, Sara and her family moved to Montgomery, AL where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a stay-at-home mom while her children attended Forest Avenue grammar school, later going to work for the Montgomery Advertiser, followed by more than 20 years as church secretary for St. Mark United Methodist on South Perry Street. Among the ministers she worked with were Revs. Millard Spikes, Herbert Walls, James Carpenter, George Sedbury, and Reba Wiley. When the church relocated to Taylor Road, she did volunteer work for several ministers including Revs. Mark LaBranche, Nathan Atwood, Brian Miller, and Gary Daniel. When St. Mark UMC closed its doors, she faithfully remained a Methodist and transferred her membership to Perry Hill UMC. In addition to her strong faith and love of her church, she was an ardent Auburn fan and ingrained both passions into her children.
Sara was preceded in leaving this life by her parents; husband Fred E. Moseley, and sister Irma McDaniel Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter Kay Moseley Keeshan (Richard) of Montgomery, son Don Moseley of Chicago, granddaughter Sarah Keeshan of Montgomery, grandson Adam Keeshan (Beth) of Auburn, and great grandson Parker Keeshan of Auburn.
Services will be conducted by Nathan Atwood and Neil Eppler on December 30th at Leak Memory Chapel with visitation at 11:00 and service at noon, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Angels for the Elderly for their compassionate and loving care of our Mom during her 4+ years there, the staff of Hospice of Montgomery, and a very special friend Betty Dawkins for her faithfulness and love. Sara Moseley requested no flowers. Instead, memorials may be given to Perry Hill United Methodist Church, Hospice of Montgomery or to one’s favorite charity.
