Shirley Ann Walker McGehee, 78, of Montgomery, Alabama returned to God on April 20, 2018. She was born on a farm near Blue Springs, Alabama, in Barbour County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lury Dorman and Lillian Lucile Walker, and her sister, Frances Elaine Walker.
The greatest gift that she received was salvation, confessing that Jesus was her Savior at the age of 13. She fulfilled a lifelong dream at 39 by becoming a teacher and graduating Summa Cum Laude from Troy State University. Her proudest achievements were becoming a mother of three wonderful children and sharing a life with her good husband of 57 years. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and never forgot their kindnesses. She felt that God sent angels in the form of people to assist in her growth through life.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. McGehee, Sr.; beloved daughters, Shirley Kathleen McGehee, Hoover, Alabama, and Jennifer Elaine McGehee, Decatur, Georgia, and one great son, Thomas E. McGehee, Jr. (Lane) Montgomery, Alabama; one brother, Charles LaDon Walker, Dothan, Alabama.
Services for Mrs. McGehee will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior at Leak Memory Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family requests no flowers since Shirley thought love was the best flower. Memorials may be made to the Montgomery Chapter of NAMI, Frazer UMC, or the Monsky Center.
