Shirley was born in Rainbow City, Alabama to parents Fred and Audrey Newton. She worked at Regions Bank, formerly known as First of Alabama Bank, in Montgomery, Alabama for thirty-nine years and retired to Lake Martin.
She is survived by her husband, John Marx Shirley; her daughters, Melody Ann (Jeffery Neal) Gober, and Vicki Shirley (John Harrell ) Owens; two grandchildren, Christopher Gober and Madison Gober; her siblings, Fred Newton, Linda Gardner, and Glenda Mathais.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Leak Memory Chapel with Pastor David Jones officiating followed by the burial at Greenwood Serenity Cemetery. The family will accept friends from 4-7:00 PM, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the funeral home. Leak Memory Chapel is directing.
