With extreme sadness, we announce the passing of Sylvia Ruth Richardson, 81, of Montgomery, Alabama. Sylvia was a bright spark for her family, and she passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
On October 21, 1940, Sylvia was born to Clarence John and Evelyn Rogers in Jackson, Michigan.
She raised three children on her own. Initially from Michigan, she lived in nine different states over her lifetime, and for the past two years, she lived in Montgomery with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children Robin (Brian) Mantle, Rodney Lepird Sr., and Tammy (Frank) Lepird. She was "Grams" to her four grandchildren (Rod Jr., Joshua (Martha) Lepird, Robbie Lepird, Sylvia Nichole Villeneuve), and three great-grandchildren (Leah, Cameron, Aaron). Sylvia had one more love in her life that she left behind, her beloved four-legged son (Donte).
Sylvia left her family with a lifetime of precious memories. She always started her day with a cup of coffee and enjoyed collecting a variety of coffee cups from her and her family's many travels to fill. Sylvia had a passion for film and genealogy and worked hard to collect movies and historical, genealogical information to share with her family. She held a strong love for her family and placed her family first, before herself always.
Sylvia's lasting legacy is her family. Through her strength and determination, she raised beautiful children and greatly influenced her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has passed along her strength of spirit to her family, and her strength and spirit have ensured that the family could navigate many trials and tribulations in life. Her passion for the Lord is evident through her determination and character, which she demonstrated every day.
Sylvia will be greatly missed. Her courage and compassion will leave a void in all our lives. We know that she will be looking down on us all, ensuring that we stay strong in the face of adversity and keep our faith in God as we learn to live with the absence of her guidance and hope.
Sylvia loved flowers, and if you wish to send flowers, she would have preferred using a local florist (Suggestions below). In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts to Catholic Social Services or your charity of choice.
