Thomas Earl Ballow Jr.

Thomas Earl Ballow Jr., went to be with his Lord on June 21, 2026 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 16, 1935. He was the son of Thomas Earl Ballow and Mary Elizabeth Ellison Ballow. He graduated from Ensley High School in 1954 and attended the University of Alabama before joining the United States Marine Corp, serving form 1956-1962. He became a life-time member of the Marine Corp League in 2002.

He graduated from the University of West Alabama (Livingston State College) in 1961 with a business degree and was awarded the Alumni Achievement Award from the College of Business in 2001. Then inducted into the University Honor Society of the Golden Key in 2005. Appointed by the state Governor, he served on the University Board of Trustees for about 10 years.

He spent over forty years in financial services to the Credit Union industry and relocated to Montgomery, Alabama in 1973 to work for Maxwell-Gunter Federal Credit Union (Max Community Credit Union), spending the last 26 years as President/Chief Executive Officer, retiring in 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Marie Cooper Ballow; two daughters, Allyson Peloquin of Evans, Georgia, DeAnn Brooks of Augusta, Georgia and stepson, Robert Tanner of Huntsville, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Jacob Peloquin, Abigail Peloquin, William Brooks, Caroline Brooks, Madeline Brooks, Cooper Tanner and Reagan Tanner; brother, Brigadier General Roland Ellison Ballow and sister, Mary Ann Latham. He was preceded in death by stepson, Carl Allen Tanner, Jr.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, on June 27, 2026, at 1:30 pm, followed by Memorial Reflections at 2:00 pm.

A family only burial of his remains will be scheduled for a later date.
