Dr. Thomas "Tom" Edward Murphy

Tom was born in Wisconsin on June 18, 1949. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Murphy; daughters Christine Noell (Mickey), Colleen Reardon, and Kelly Peoples (Greg); son Kevin Murphy (Jessie); grandchildren Will, Andrew, and Cate Noell; Matthew, Kathryn, and Luke Reardon; Lily, Reid, and Ryan Peoples; and Connor Murphy; siblings Dr. Mike Murphy (Jan), Dr. Kathy Murphy, Tim Murphy (Bonnie), Jerry Murphy (Laura), Bob Murphy (LaCinda), Dr. Joe Murphy (Julie), Peggy Frank (Mike), Dr. John Murphy, Dan Murphy (Shelly); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Murphy, mother Theresa Murphy, brother Brian Murphy, and sister Angell Murphy.

Tom was a devoted chiropractor who cared deeply about his patients. He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA in 1974 and practiced for over 50 years. He was extremely dedicated to his patients, regularly visiting homebound people and meeting patients on weekends or after hours. Making his patients feel better was his ministry in life, and he has inspired over 18 family members to become chiropractors.

Tom's favorite things were outdoor activities and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Alabama State Chiropractic Association. Thank you to Dr. Sam Peavy for being a good friend to Tom.

Tom was a humble, compassionate man who loved deeply but quietly. His family was the most important thing to him, and they will cherish all the memories of him.

We will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 15 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be Sunday, June 14 5:00-7:00 pm and Monday, June 15 9:45-10:45 am. The funeral will be at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 3870 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36109, and the visitations will be in St. Bede Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School at 5350 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36116.
