Sgt. Schafrik’s military career began in 1973 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to serve in the Vietnam War as a tactical aircraft maintenance specialist. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1978 and went on to become a Lead Mechanic at Boeing and Leadman at Lockheed Martin.
Stg. Schafrik was preceded in death by his father, Helmuth Schafrik; mother, Caroline (Cukajne) Schafrik; and sisters, Carole Schafrik, Judy Purcell and Christine Schafrik. He is survived by his nieces, Christina Andrako, Deanna Main and Shaughnessy Pitzer; and nephews, Joseph Carroll and Daniel Purcell Jr.
White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home (909 Lincoln Road in Montgomery, AL) will host a military burial service on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 10 a.m.
