Tyler Sasser passed away on January 24, 2020 after a traumatic brief illness. He was 66 and retired from J.R. Smith Manufacturing after a 37 year career. Along with wife, Mona, he was an avid camper, enjoying travel and being with the close community of camping friends. What started with tent camping graduated to a luxurious travel trailer with which they experienced unforgettable times. Of all his roles, grand parenting was his favorite. He was called "Putty" by his grandchildren. He doted on, spoiled, and indulged all five with special attention and love by attending all their softball games, teaching them to fish, four-wheeling, riding the lawn mower, and playing poker among many other things. The grandchildren loved to go camping with Putty.
Tyler was known for his gentle, patient, genteel and compassionate nature. He was generous to those in need always helping people and never needing recognition for it. He is survived by: his wife, Ramona Meeks Sasser; children, Christy Sasser Shelton and Erin (Darrel) Hudson; siblings, Randy (Stacy) Sasser and Pam Oates; grandchildren, Slade Sasser, Britton Sasser, Markie Hicks, Brantley Hicks, Jade Paramore, and Taylin Sutton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyler Sasser and Lillie Clyde Chance Sasser; and his son, Tyler Chance Sasser.
A visitation is set for 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28 at Leak Memory Chapel followed a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm. Rev. Ernie Willis will officiate.
