

Bamberg, Walter Matthew, 56, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, died Tuesday, September 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jones Bamberg. He is survived by his mother Peggy Chesnutt Bamberg and his sister Dale Bamberg Franklin, both of Montgomery and brother David and his wife Wanda of Spring, Texas. He is also survived by his niece Laura Franklin Brewer, nephews Joshua Bamberg and Cameron Franklin. He also leaved behind two great nieces, a great nephew, cousins and numerous friends throughout the community.
Matt was born on November 26, 1968. He attended Montgomery area schools. He was a talented photojournalist, radio DJ/personality and TV producer. He worked at local stations WSFA, WAKA, and WHHY. He also worked for WBRC in Birmingham. He produced and filmed the popular show “COPS in Montgomery.” Matt had the opportunity to record and produce many milestones for the community over the years.
In addition to his journalistic and video skills, Matt was a talented vocalist. He performed at numerous weddings, political and community events including singing the National Anthem for the Montgomery Biscuits.
Matt loved spending time on his boat at Lake Jordan with one of his beloved dogs. He was also a constant companion and travel buddy for his mother Peggy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00am, Brian Taylor officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, and burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
