
Mr. Wayland Nobles, 84, a resident of Montgomery, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by Olga Tranum Nobles, his wife of 51 years. He is survived by his son Donald Nobles and daughter Rebecca Edge and her husband Sandy Edge. His grandchildren include Angela Johnson Shine (David), Johanna Johnson, Broade Edge (Majirl), Brandon Edge (Crystal), and his great-grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. A founding partner in the CPA firm Kent, Van Cleve, and Nobles (later Kent, Nobles, and Martin), he was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Alabama Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, the Capital City Kiwanis Club, served as President of the Alabama National Fair, and volunteered at the Baptist Medical Center and the First Baptist Church Caring Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19 at 12.30 followed by the funeral at 1.30 at Leak-Memory Chapel, the Reverend Jay Wolf officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to the First Baptist Church Caring Center or a favorite charity.
