WILLIAMS, Wayne 81, a resident of Wetumpka, AL, passed on November 30, 2022 following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bleacher and Marjorie Williams, his brother, Dale Williams, in-laws John and Mary Bishop, and brother-in-law Jack Williams. He is survived by his devoted and patient wife of 58 years, Frances Bishop Williams and his children, Lisa Ann Williams McGlone (Jerry) and John Howard Williams (Lisa). His grandsons, Cole and Jordan Williams, who referred to him as “Pop Pop,” and his sister, Delma Jo Williams. He was also blessed with nieces and nephews, Susan Williams-Olguin, Ken Williams, Wayne B. Williams, Greg Williams, Jeff Williams, Pamela (Williams) Beggerly, and Angela Crump.
Wayne was born In Houston, TX on July 1, 1941. He graduated from B. B. Comer High School in Sylacauga, AL and then entered the U. S. Air Force. Following service, he worked for Delta Air Lines for many years prior to retirement. He was both a Passenger Service Agent (Atlanta, GA), earning many accommodations and a gate agent (Montgomery, AL). He went on to own his own welding shop, ATB, and enjoyed the time he worked at Trinity Presbyterian School.
Wayne served in a number of volunteer positions. He was PTO President throughout Lisa and John’s elementary years, an active member of the Montgomery Zoo, and a Rolling Hills Volunteer Firefighter. He was also a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge of GA, Riverdale Lodge.
Wayne served as a deacon at Cloverdale Baptist Church prior to transferring his membership to Frazier United Methodist Church. He was a believer and was baptized as a child. He will see us all in Heaven.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Elmore County, where he adopted his cat, Reecey. A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Minister Jason Chesser officiating.
