

William Douglas Jeffcoat, 88 years old, passed away on December 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gaines Jeffcoat and Mary Vera Miller Jeffcoat and a brother, Thomas Gaines Jeffcoat, Jr.
A chapel service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 pm on December 31, 2022 at Leak Memory Chapel located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama. The family will receive family and friends for visitation and prayer at Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home beginning at 11:15 am in the parlor. Reverend Andy Hepburn will be officiating the service.
William Douglas Jeffcoat was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 18, 1934. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1952 and earned his Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama. Dr. Jeffcoat earned his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University and a Doctorate Degree in Computer Science from New York University. He also earned a second Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1990.
He is a member of Frazer Methodist Church located at 6000 Atlanta Highway in Montgomery, Alabama.
Dr. Jeffcoat worked for 36 years with AT&T as a District Manager in the Engineer Research & Development Department. He was in charge of the communication for the 1984 Olympic Torch Relay which was 9000 miles across the country through 33 states from New York to Los Angeles.
His other many achievements include an Amateur & Commercial Radio License, Private, Instrument Rated & Commercial Pilots License. He was a Master Mason, a Scottish Rite Mason, a Shriner, and a member of Eastern Star.
Dr. Jeffcoat is survived by his wife, Sarah Jeffcoat, two children, Kathy Robinson (Keith), Lynn Lamping (Chuck), and six grandchildren: Tyler Robinson, Lauren Myers (Joe), Kimberly Lindberg (Brooks), Sarah Lamping, Robert Lamping, and William Lamping.
