

William Kenneth Nichols, 83, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise and infant son, Charles, three brothers, and one sister: Herman, Hollis, Thurston and Maudine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, Mildred Sexton Nichols, one brother, Willie of Jackson, AL; nephews, Terry Littleton, Tony Nichols, Dennis Dilly, Ronnie Todd, Byron Owens, and Lannis Sexton; nieces, Ceretha Roseberry, Linda Payne, Melanie Ray, Lisa Headley, Tracy Jenkins, Sherry Bryant, Dawn Sexton, Shawn Tebbetts, Wanda Head, Beverly Ballentine, and Gayle Grayson. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years beginning with World War II and including the Korean War. After retiring from the military in 1968, he began a second career with the State of Alabama Commission on Aging working 22 years with senior citizens which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a Mason and Shriner. He was a faithful member of Danielville Baptist Church, Honoraville, AL. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Richard Roseberry, Terry Littleton, Tony Nichols, Dennis Dilly, Byron Owens, and Ronnie Todd. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM from Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. Joe Leverett and Rev. Harry Driggers officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 PM at the University Hwy. Church of God Cemetery, Hwy 82, Maplesville, AL with military honors. Arrangements under the direction of Leak Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL.
