William Norris

William Norris, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. There will be a visitation at Leak Memory on Saturday, January 23 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. A memorial service will be held at Dalraida Church of Christ on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM.

William grew up in a family of 11 brothers and sisters in Lowndes County, Alabama, and moved to Montgomery in 1960. He served in the Korean War, retired in 1990 from the state of Alabama with more than 35 years of service. He was also on the board of Alabama Christian Academy, was a member of Dalraida Church of Christ for over 55 years, and a friend to many young and old.

Mr. Norris is survived by his wife of 60 years Joe Ann Coker Norris; Sons: David(Theresa) Norris, Daniel Norris, John(Debbie) Norris, James Norris; Daughters: Susan Clark, Sarah(Kent) Olesen; Grandchildren: Rebecca(Joe) Ireland, William Norris, Steven(Kelli) Clark, Jennifer(Nathan) Capps, Stephanie(Alan) Meek, Daniel Olesen, Thomas Olesen, Spencer Norris, Austin Norris, John Norris II, Jessica Norris, Jennifer Norris; 10 great-grandchildren; Sister: Christine Pennini; Brothers: Charles Norris, Thomas Norris, Leon Norris, and Robert Norris; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Alabama Christian Academy, Agape of Central Alabama, or a preferred charity or church.
