Born on December 4, 1945, in Montgomery, Leon was a proud veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He dedicated 37 years of his professional life to the State of Alabama as a civil engineer. Upon retiring from the state, he founded Hydro Engineering Solutions, where he continued his work for another 17 years before fully retiring to spend more time with family, the church, traveling, working his land and raising cows. He was a builder, innovator, caretaker, and constant friend to those in need.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Lois Pinkston; and his sisters, Eleanor Peden and Tina Chalkley.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Molly Pinkston; his son, Craig Pinkston (Kristina); his daughter, Jessica Justice (Todd); his grandchildren, Jack Pinkston, Charlie Pinkston, Charlie Pinkston, Samantha Pinkston, Gavin Justice, and Gunner Justice; his brother, David Pinkston (Kathy); and his sister, Carol Anderson.
Leon lived a life of service, faith, hard work, generosity, and love. He leaves behind not only a family who will miss him deeply, but also countless people who were touched by his insight, kindness, and friendship.
Rest in peace, Pa. We love you, and we will miss you always.
