Bill was born October 21, 1924 in Winona, West Virginia to Robert and Winnie Sydnor. He attended West Virginia Tech where he met the love of his life, Ida Jane Shaver. The couple married March 22, 1947 and their love endured Bill’s enlistment in the U.S. Army where he bravely served our country in WWII. Bill and Jane would go on to have four cherished children that would further bless their lives with 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bill and his family were faithful attendees at Normandale United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He was well-known for his career as an insurance salesman with Liberty National Life Insurance Company and even more so as the owner of his own local business, “The Handyman.”
William “Bill” Jackson Sydnor was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Jane (Shaver) Sydnor, his parents, Robert and Winnie Sydnor; his sister Virginia Kincaid, his brothers, Clarence Sydnor and Richard Sydnor of West Virginia, and his great-granddaughter, Lila Bass. He is survived by his brother, Robert Sydnor of Clearwater, Fla; two sons, Charles William Sydnor of Plant City, Fla; Robert Eugene Sydnor of Raleigh, North Carolina; his two daughters, Susan Jane Sydnor Bass (Danny) of Wetumpka, Alabama, and Leigh Ellen Sydnor Hinson of Montgomery, Alabama; his 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a plethora of loving cousins, nieces and nephews who will all miss him greatly.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org in hopes that our nation’s veterans can be rehabilitated both physically and mentally from the scars that war leaves behind.
