

BROWN, Willie James "Jim", 88, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 11, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Carrie Brown, and brother Herman Brown. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty Brook Brown and his children Jim Brown (Pam), Richard Beidleman (Deb), Carol Herron (Sonny), Greg Beidleman (Paula), Sandra Martin (James), Elisabeth Mason (Barry), 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army's 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. After serving his country, he worked for the Montgomery Advertiser for 54 years. After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events. His kind and loving manner will be missed by all. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Leak Memory Chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Green and the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Serenity Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he had been a member for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. Leak Memory Chapel of Montgomery is directing.
