Wilma Jean Hatcher- Age 88, passed away surrounded by her lifetime husband and friend and all of her children on October 2, 2026. She was born June 13, 1938 in Sneads, Florida and she passed on to go Home after a courageously fought eight-year battle with the ugly disease of dementia. Jean was a long-time member of Dalraida Church of Christ where she sang her heart out to the One that she loved and adored. She was a homemaker. Notice I did not say “only” because she lived her life being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. It was not her vocation. It was her life. Jean always thought of others first. She always made sure that we had enough to eat before she would eat. Even at the end, she was determined that she would use every single heartbeat that she had. She stopped breathing at least fifteen times and found a way to breathe again. This awful disease stole her mind but it did not take our mother’s heart. Jean was forever married and devoted to Wayne for 70 + years. His life will never be the same without Wilma Jean by his side. “After David (Jean) served God’s purpose in his generation well, he (she) fell asleep.” Acts 13:36
She was preceded in death by mother and father, Frank and Stella Dennis; sisters, Doris Boutwell, Minnie Shelfer, and brother Buddy Dennis and daughter-in-law, Teresa Hatcher. Survived by husband, Wayne Hatcher; Daughter, Darlene (Curtis) Moorer; sons Rick Hatcher, Steve (Connie) Hatcher, and Jeff (Rachel) Hatcher; Grandchildren: April Moorer, Chrystal (Buddy) Paul, Austin (Taylor) Moorer, Dallas (Stefanie) Hatcher, Tyler (Blake) Hatcher, Scottie (Amy) Hatcher, Timothy (Kristin) Hatcher, Anna (Jordan) Aubrey, and Olivia (JD) Sargent, brother James Dennis and sister Judy Baker, and 17 great grandchildren.
