P. Christopher Sears, born January 9,1967, passed away unexpectedly from a devastating infection on April 15, 2024. Chris was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. He was known for his dedication and loyalty to his wife Caroline Arpin, and their children Mathieu, Samuel and Magalie. He was the cherished father of Peter, Mackenzie (Alex) and Cameron from his first marriage to Linda Marino. Predeceased in 2023 by his mother, Anne Osourne, he was a lifelong friend to his father, William Peter Sears and brother to Susannah Sears.
Chris’s unwavering love and dedication to his family was evident to all who knew him. He was also known for his passion for baseball, airplanes, fireworks and foraging at the cottage. Disconnecting from the city brought him great joy and contentment. Chris was a man who deeply valued quality time with his family, which was evident through his preferred recreational activities which included playing Scrabble with Caroline, discussing hockey with his older boys, hours of Monopoly with Mathieu and Sam and doting affection on Magalie. Chris also always had room at the table for extended family and friends whom he frequently shared meals with at his home. Chris’s favorite vacation spot was at the beach in Maine, where cherished family memories were created since his early childhood.
Chris also had a successful career as an investment analyst for 25 years at MacDougall, McDougal, McTier, where he rose to the role of Senior Vice-President and Director of the firm. He later went on to join his father in a fruitful partnership as Portfolio Manager at Raymond James.
Chris held many causes close to his heart, especially those related to youth. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his name to:
• Moisson Montreal, a Montreal food bank, because no child should go hungry.
• Le Phare, Enfants et Families, a Pediatric Palliative care resource in Quebec dedicated to children with life threatening illnesses and their families.
• Project 10 working to promote the personal, social, sexual and mental well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, intersexed and questioning youth and adults 14-25.
Visitation will be held at the Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 Chem. De la Côte-des-Neiges, on Thursday, May 9, 5:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday, May 10, 1:00 to 3:45 pm, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Chris’s life, share stories and honour his memory.
Chris will be profoundly missed. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will live on in the memories of treasured moments we all shared.
