November 29, 1945 - June 16, 2022
With deep sadness we share that Daniel Joseph Sullivan Galletti passed away peacefully in Montreal, at the age of 76, after a brave battle with cancer. His cherished wife of over 45 years , Santina Tutino, was by his side, together with their beloved children Robert (Shannon), Analisa (Bradley) and Daniel (Jordana). A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dan’s great pride and purpose in life was his treasured family. He was an endlessly supportive and nurturing presence, always ready with calm, reassuring words, or a warm, giant smile, depending on what was needed. He was a great companion, confidant, and co-conspirator to his beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Clara, Arabella, Matthew, and Stella, with whom he shared his unwavering sense of wonder and mischief, and of whom he was enormously proud.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Frances (Sullivan), and Gerlando Tutino and Anna Borsellino, and leaves behind his cherished sisters and brothers, Laurie, Michael (Barbara), Mary, Theresa (Jack), Larry (Bibi), Rodney (Kathryn), and Raymond (Katherine), brothers and sisters-in-law Vittoria (Frank), Franco (Rita), and many nieces and nephews.
Dan grew up in Montreal, and enjoyed an adventurous childhood in the country, riding horses, and later racing cars and motorcycles, no doubt to his parents’ chagrin. He instilled that same sense of adventure in his children, who recall many wonderful memories with their parents on the ski hills and travelling far and wide. Dan was equally happy close to home, taking joy in chauffeuring his children, and later grandchildren, to sporting activities around the city, celebrating victories and consoling losses with equal warmth and kindness.
After a long and distinguished career in real estate, Dan devoted himself to charitable work, in which he took immense satisfaction. He was a prominent member and Past Master of The Royal Edward Lodge #90, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the Grand Lodge of Quebec, and took great pleasure in the friendship of his Masonic brothers. Dan was also very involved in the management of the Masonic Foundation of Quebec, serving as President for over seven years. His skills in property management led to many timely and well-executed improvements and restorations of Montreal's historic Masonic Memorial Temple.
Dan was energized and comforted by the many visits of dear old friends during his illness. The family would like to warmly thank Dorothy Asamoah, Drs. Diaz and Nikonova, and the superb medical teams at the Montreal Neurological Institute Hospital and the Royal Victoria Hospital for their diligent and compassionate care.
A visitation will be held at Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 Ch. de la Côte-des-Neiges in Montreal, on Thursday, June 23rd, at 8:30 am, immediately followed by a memorial mass at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute Hospital ([email protected]; 514-398-1958) or the Masonic Foundation of Quebec (masonicfoundationofquebec.com/charity; 514-933-6730).
