1940 - 2015
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of Dieter Loerick on February 18, 2015 in his seventy-fifth year after a brief battle with cancer. Dieter died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family as per his wishes. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Stephanie White, his daughter Heidi and son Douglas, brother Detmar and grandchildren Emma and Benjamin. He will be sadly missed by stepsons Keith Fleming (Anne) and Jesse Fleming (Kathleen Buset), nephews Todd Loerick and Stéphane Loerick, niece Brigitte Loerick and mother-in-law Joan Severs White. He will be remembered as well by members of his extended family including Glenna Loerick-Hebert (Neil Hebert), Isabel Feltmate, Gary White, Nick Halavrezos and Jeannine Loerick as well as his six step-grandchildren. Dieter was born in Köln, Germany to Julius and Gertrude (Austermühle) Loerick and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his mother, followed shortly thereafter by his older brother Detmar. In his twenties, he married his first wife, became a father and completed a B.A., a B.Comm. and an M.B.A.. Dieter began his career at Bell Canada and then worked as a Finance and Accounting teacher at John Abbott College. During his retirement, Dieter started a business completing income tax forms and enjoyed referring to himself as “The Taxman”. In 1997, Dieter married Stephanie White and they shared 18 wonderful years together. Although Dieter travelled quite a lot during his life, he was essentially a homebody. He loved nothing more than sitting in his backyard doing crosswords with Stephanie, walking their beloved dog Finder and spending time with his family. But not on Sundays during the football game! Dieter was a kind and generous man, with a great sense of humour. Funeral Service on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, QC H3V 1E7. The family will receive condolences from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
