Eddie was known for his athleticism, warm heart, and generous spirit. He was well-liked and had many friends throughout his life, forming lasting bonds from his early years and through his many years as a restauranteur and entrepreneur. A former football player with the Montreal Alouettes, Eddie remained passionate about sports and took great pride in staying physically active well into his later years.
As an Orthodox Christian, Eddie had a deep and abiding faith that guided him throughout his life. He had a strong interest in theology and found great meaning in studying and reflecting on spiritual teachings.
He was also a proud Freemason and later, a Shriner, dedicating over 50 years to the values of fellowship, service, and charitable work—principles that mirrored the way he lived his life.
He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Ellen; his cherished children Judith (Frank Maheux) and John (Rita Burnatowski); his beloved grandchildren, Alexander and Lily-Olivia, and his many nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Judy, Bruce, and Steven, with whom he shared a close and meaningful connection.
Eddie’s legacy of faith, kindness, strength, and friendship will live on in all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the workers at the Henri-Bradet residential centre as well as David at the CHSLD St-Georges for the wonderful care they took of Eddie over the last 18 months.
