It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando Trasente on April 12th, 2025, at the age of 74. Predeceased by his father, Nicola Trasente, his mother, Rosa Petruzziello, and his brother, Salvatore Trasente, he leaves to mourn his sister Maria (Vittorio), his nephew Stefano, his niece Giulia, as well as many other family and friends.
Fernando was a proud engineer, having received both Civil and Electrical Engineering degrees from McGill University. A student for life, Fernando never stopped learning, taking classes and certifications well into his 60s. He practiced his vocation across Canada, a country he loved and loved to call home. In Alberta, he had the opportunity to work in the oil and gas industry. In Saskatchewan, he saw the Northern Lights. And he operated as an independent consultant throughout Ontario and Quebec.
Fernando had many passions outside of engineering. He loved chess, classical music, and was a passionate art collector. He was an avid runner, participating in many marathons across Canada and the United States. He often mentioned that he “clocked with certification” (best time: 3:06.30.3). His professorial discourses will be sorely missed by all those lucky enough to have been in his acquaintance.
The family will receive condolences at the Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 ch de la Côte-des- Neiges, Montreal, on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will also be held at the Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges Chapel on Friday, April 25th, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
