

Kantilal Jivan
January 20, 1943 – March 3, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kantilal Jivan, age 79, who died peacefully on March 3rd, 2022 at the Royal Victoria Hospital (Glen) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Kantilal is survived by his devoted wife Maria, his loving daughter Vipasa and his late son Joseph Ashutosh. Along with brother-in-law Mike, sister-in-law Lina, nephew Jonathan (Konstantina), niece Marissa (Carlo). We are so grateful for your ongoing support during this difficult time. Kanti has shared so many memories with all of you. He also participated in many Piperno-Chiarelli family functions in Montreal.
He also leaves in his passing his immediate family in Johannesburg, South Africa: Jaya (Parbhoobhai, deceased), Bharnumatiben (Ishverlalbhai), Sasoobhai (Chandraben), Susheilaben (Ashvinbhai, deceased), Vigeeben (Navindbhai, deceased), Bhagiben (Jairagbhai), Nanben (Jayantbhai), Dhanaben (Surandrabhai), Badraben (Pretimbhai) and all the numerous nieces and nephews of the Jivan community who are over 150 relatives. Thanking you all for all your texts, calls as well as continued support and interests during Kanti’s hospitalization. A special mention to the late Ranchodbhai, Nanniben and Shantaben (Kanti’s parents) and siblings Lalihben, Govindbhai, Suriben and Shantilalbhai have passed away years ago but they were highly valued and were all dear to his heart.
Kanti also had numerous friends in Prince Edward Island that he visits yearly for vacations. He will be missed by Doug, Leslie, David, Evelyn Cathy, Nick and others.
Kanti was an accomplished tailor, pattern maker who graduated from the Academy of Fashion Design School in Montreal. Kanti was well known in the fur trade industry in Montreal servicing many customers with his outstanding skills. He was viewed as a kind, gentle humble man who was a reliable and honest businessman.
Visitation for viewing will be held Thursday March 17, 2022 at 11:30am to 2pm at Centre funeraire Cote des Neiges, Montreal (514 – 342 – 8000). A private funeral service will follow the viewing at 2pm. Kantilal’s cremation event is planned in the near future when his ashes will be united at his son’s Joseph Ashutosh’s grave site situated in the Cote des Neiges cemetery.
A virtual viewing at the visitation will be available at the funeral site.
Max Climan, a spiritual councillor at the Royal Victoria Hospital described Kanti as a gentleman with the spirit of a warrior.
Kanti you are loved beyond measure and will be forever missed. Remembering you always Kanti.
