Krystyna Czajkowska-Missala

On July 5th, 2024, Krystyna Czajkowska-Missala left us after a long and rich life. Still an adolescent, Krystyna joined the resistance in then-occupied Poland, as had many of her forefathers over the preceding decades, rising against their beloved fatherland’s successive occupiers. After WWII, fate took her to western Europe, and then Canada, where she settled with her dearest Leszek, and completed her studies, leading to a fulfilling career at McGill University. Passionate about art and culture, Krysia and Leszek tirelessly traveled the world throughout their life, building a quasi-encyclopaedic knowledge of mankind and its legacy, which they shared generously with those around them. Krysia leaves behind Christine, Marc and Jean – the children she and Leszek never had – as well as nephews and nieces on both sides of the Atlantic. Le 5 juillet 2024, Krystyna Czajkowska-Missala nous a quittés après une vie longue et riche. Encore adolescente, Krystyna se joignait à la résistance en Pologne alors sous occupation, comme l’avaient fait ses aïeux au fil des décennies précédentes, se soulevant contre les occupants successifs de leur patrie bien-aimée. Après la guerre, le sort l’a menée en Europe occidentale, puis au Canada où elle s’est établie avec son Leszek chéri et y a complété ses études, la menant à une carrière épanouissante à l’Université McGill. Passionnés d’art et de culture, Krysia et Leszek ont parcouru le monde inlassablement tout au cours de leur vie, contribuant à leur connaissance quasi-encyclopédique de l’humanité et de son héritage, qu’ils ont généreusement partagée avec leur entourage. Krysia laisse derrière elle Christine, Marc et Jean – les enfants que Leszek et elle n’auront pas eu – ainsi que neveux et nièces des deux côtés de l’Atlantique.
